Welcome to my teaching portfolio |
When I look down at my phone and ask it to navigate home a reoccurring thought ensues, "we live in a age of miracles." Technology we have adopted as a society is changing the way we think, learn, create, communicate, and govern. In a world where access to information and knowledge is commonplace, digital natives need to be taught critical thinking, research, collaboration, networking, and intrinsic motivation in order to prepare for the millennial economy. Teaching content with technology has been an evolving process. Getting students to create and publish content with technology becomes a way to develop and employ adaptable skills. Personally I love how it can give them a voice. Additionally the development of resources for teaching and learning have given me tools to become a better teacher. The ability to use online resources that tell me 23% of my students need to revisit specific learning targets creates a more efficient learning environment. The historian in me wonders what Horace Mann would think if he saw students completing formative assessments with their personal digital devices.
